Can I buy my home?

Our present policy is normally not to sell or grant long leases on its properties, as to do so would conflict with our aims of providing good homes to rent for people in need. However, where the Association has acquired property from other public landlords, we may have been required to preserve those tenants’ right to buy. You will already have been informed if you have this right. Please ask a Customer Service Officer if you are in any doubt.

Your Right to Acquire your home

If your home was bought or built after 1 April 1997 using Social Housing Grant money, or was transferred from a local authority after that date, you might have the Right to Acquire. This means that you can buy your home from your landlord, with a grant towards the cost. The Right to Acquire is not the same as the Preserved Right to Buy and does not apply to all properties. You should ask your Housing Officer for more information.
